Highly regarded Highland Springs High School quarterback Khristian Martin is set to make his college commitment this weekend, according to his social media accounts.

Martin, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior, holds at least a dozen scholarship offers from Division 1 programs but has narrowed his finalists to just three: Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Recruiting website 247 Sports predicts that he will leave the state to commit to the Terrapins. (Martin took an official visit to Maryland June 23, two weeks after taking one to UVA.)

He intends to make his announcement July 30.

Last season as a junior, Martin led the Springers to one of their most dominant season in school history, a perfect 15-0 record that culminated in a Class 5 state championship with a 33-19 victory over Maury High School. Along the way, he completed 63% of his passes (124 of 205) for 2,388 yards, 30 touchdowns and one interception, while also rushing 95 times for 773 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Martin was named a co-All-Metro Player of the year with Dinwiddie quarterback Harry Dalton in January by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He also is an excellent student who carries a 4.0 grade point average.

This year, the Springers move up to Class 6, the classification for the largest schools in the state, after a decade in Class 5.
