COVID

Following 13 straight days with more than 100 new confirmed COVID-19 cases each, Henrico has experienced a dip in new cases during the past two days, according to Virginia Department of Health data.

Seventy new cases were reported Labor Day in the county and 71 Tuesday, though it’s possible those numbers are lower because fewer people were getting tested during the holiday weekend. The county witnessed 148 new confirmed cases Saturday and 107 Sunday and is now averaging 110 new daily cases during the past seven days.

Three new virus-related deaths have been reported in the county since Saturday, according to the data, as well as two new hospitalizations.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR testing encounters as of Sept. 3 was 9.6% – lower than the state’s average of 10%. It’s rapid testing encounter positivity percentage as of the same day was 10%, higher than the state’s average of 8.5%.

A total of 943 Henricoans received their initial dose of COVID-19 vaccine between Friday and Monday, according to VDH data, and nearly 1,200 became fully vaccinated during that time.

Overall, nearly 64% of the county’s population now has received at least one dose of vaccine, while just more than 57% of Henricoans are fully vaccinated. Among those 18 and older, more than 75% have received one dose and more than 68% are fully vaccinated.
