Two-year-old London Bache and her family were among the more than 100 friends, neighbors, and family members who participated in a chalk art display in late July memorializing the life of Lucy Le, who died last year after being hit while walking along Welwyn Road in Henrico.  The event also served as a tribute to other traffic victims, and a reminder to motorists to slow down and drive safely.

Le's daughter, Laura Pho, honors her mother daily with chalk drawings and a roadside memorial that includes an altar. She also channels her grief into advocating for traffic safety and for victims of traffic violence.

London Bache's mother, Nikki Davis, met Pho seven years ago while teaching a barre fitness class. Now the owner of The Barre Method on Three Chopt Road, Davis organized a charity barre class in the wake of Lucy Le's death on July 27, 2020, and joined the chalk art event Saturday to support Pho's advocacy for safer streets. Funds raised from the barre class benefited Bike Walk RVA, a non-profit Sports Backers group that raises awareness regarding pedestrian and bike safety and advocates for more walkable and bikeable communities.
