CAT Theatre to hold auditions for two shows

Table of Contents

CAT Theatre will hold auditions in the coming weeks for two upcoming performances.

Auditions for The Diviners, CAT's entry into the Acts of Faith Festival (Feb. 2-17, 2018) will be held Sunday, Nov. 12 and Monday, Nov. 13 at the theater at 7 p.m. both days. Casting will be for six men – ages 15 to 60 – and five women – ages 16 to 60. No appointment is necessary. All actors will be paid.

The performance is the story of a disturbed young man and his friendship with a disenchanted preacher in southern Indiana in the early 1930s. Family and community members each have a different response to this curious companionship and its ultimate outcome.

Auditions for the Shakespeare Shorts tour, part of the Bifocals at CAT Theatre series, will be held at the theater Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. Casting will be for 10 to 12 people in a roughly even mix of men and women, all ethnicities, age 50 and older. The touring program will include well-known scenes and soliloquies from Shakespeare’s works.

Those who audition should bring a one- to two-minute monologue and be prepared to read from scenes, as well. No previous Shakespeare experience is required. All actors will be paid. The show will tour local senior living facilities from Jan. 29 through Feb. 16, 2018.

Rehearsals will begin Nov. 27.
