Henrico County Court Appointed Special Advocates welcomed five new CASA volunteers March 27 to advocate for children before the court due to allegations of abuse or neglect. The advocates – Kymico Crawford, Tisha Green, Maya Moore, Darlene Owens and Gerry Ward – were sworn in by Randall G. Johnson, Jr., Chief Judge of the Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

After completing 38 hours of training and courtroom observation over the past month, the new volunteers took the CASA Volunteer Oath to indicate their willingness and readiness to be a voice in court for Henrico County’s most vulnerable children.

Last year, 106 volunteers advocated for 333 children in the Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. More volunteers are needed; the next training takes place April 29.
