The Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation recently received a $8,796 donation from Gale, a global provider of research and digital learning resources.

The foundation is named for a Henrico girl who died at 16 after completing a half-marathon in March 2014.

The June 6 donation came from proceeds of Cameron’s Collection and Cameron’s Camp for Wellness on the Gale eBooks platform, resources designed to support education and awareness of student mental health and wellness. The collections are sets of eBooks created by Gale that help students better understand their mental health and provide guidance to strengthen their social and emotional learning skills. More than 2.5 million students across the country have access to the collections.

One in five teens suffers with mental health challenges, but more than 75% do not seek help. Gallagher battled depression and anxiety, and her dream was to raise awareness and prevent the unnecessary suffering from stigma. The foundation that bears her name works to realize her mission.

Since the collections launched in 2018, Gale has donated nearly $90,000 of the proceeds sold to the CKG Foundation.
