The National Association of College & University Food Services recently awarded the University of Richmond a 2022 Loyal E. Horton Dining Award. UR Dining Services received a “Gold” in the category of Retail Sales — Single Concept for Organic Krush, the newest retail dining location on campus. The Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts in college and university culinary arts. Organic Krush Café is located on campus in the Well-Being Center, which opened in January 2021. The café is a collaboration between the University and Organic Krush, which was co-founded by Richmond alumna Michelle Walrath.


Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital has been awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2022 Hospital Safety Grade. In addition, St. Mary’s Hospital has been designated as a “Straight A” hospital for consistently demonstrating a commitment to putting patients first. These national distinctions recognize the hospital’s achievements in providing safer health care. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns a letter grade to hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures on preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, as well as other systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm to patients in their care.


HCA Healthcare officials recently announced the recipients of its 2022 Unit of Distinction Awards, with 21 Virginia units being recognized among the overall 2,300. Within those 21 sites, both the Henrico Doctors’ Parham (Medical/Surgical Unit) and Henrico Doctors’ Hospital (Progressive Care Unit) were among those awarded for their exemplary nursing care. The Unit of Distinction Awards first launched in 2015 as part of the organization’s strategic nursing plan to continue support and investment in their nursing programs. The awards are categorized in the top five percent of every HCA Healthcare unit.


Friday, May 27 will mark the grand opening of Sephora at Kohl’s at the Glen Allen Kohl’s location, 11240 West Broad Street. Shoppers can expect a 2,500-square-foot beauty experience similar to a freestanding Sephora. Sephora-trained beauty advisors will be available to offer consultations and assistance finding products. For shoppers who want to explore on their own, there also will be a testing and discovery zone with a rotating assortment of new products. Along with the beauty brands offered at a freestanding Sephora, Sephora at Kohl’s will offer six new brands including Murad, Clarins, Jack Black, Living Proof, Versace and Volupsa. The Glen Allen store is one of 400 Sephora at Kohl’s store openings planned nationwide this year.

Levega Itzae Farm, LLC recently purchased 26.371 +/- acres on Darbytown Road in Henrico County from Pruitt Properties, Inc. for $117,000. Joe Buhrman and Brent Altaffer of Commonwealth Commercial Partners, LLC represented the seller.


KonNik, LLC recently purchased 4,337 SF at 2590-B Gaskins Road in Henrico County from Railey Hill Associates, LLC for $1,100,000. Tucker Dowdy and Russell Wyatt of Commonwealth Commercial Partners, LLC represented the seller.
