The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) recently announced officers and Board of Directors for the 2019–20 fiscal year. Anne B. Hagen, CPA of the Masonic Home of Virginia in Henrico will serve as vice chair. Hagen was sworn in at the VSCPA’s annual business meeting May 16 in Richmond. Founded in 1909, the VSCPA is the leading professional association in the Commonwealth dedicated to empowering CPAs to thrive.


The Virginia Society of CPAs Political Action Committee (VSCPA PAC) recently announced officers and Board of Trustees for the 2019–20 fiscal year. T. Brett Sinsabaugh, CPA of Keiter in Glen Allen will serve as chair-elect. Sinsabaugh was installed May 1 and recognized at the VSCPA’s annual business meeting May 16 in Richmond. The VSCPA PAC was formed in 1981 in order for VSCPA members to pool resources in order to make political contributions.


The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation recently announced officers and Board of Directors for the 2019–20 fiscal year. Delord King, CPA of DCKing Consulting PC in Glen Allen will serve as an at-large Board member. King was installed at the VSCPA’s annual business meeting May 16 in Richmond. The VSCPA Educational Foundation was founded in 1984 to attract future CPAs.


Attorneys Dawn DeBoer and Dawn South recently opened a family law firm – DeBoerSouth – in Henrico. It will handle family law cases involving divorce, custody and visitation, child support, complex property distribution, spousal support and separation issues, among other matters. The firm is located at 1802 Bayberry Court. DeBoer and South have practiced family law for more than 40 combined years. DeBoer has been named among Virginia Business’ Legal Elite for more than 10 years and was recognized as an outstanding attorney by Super Lawyers. South is a member of the City of Richmond Bar Association and the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar Association. She also has served in the Domestic Relations Section of the Richmond Bench Bar Conference and is the 2019 co-chair of the Richmond Bar Association Bench Bar Conference.

Brian Glass

Brian Glass recently joined commercial brokerage firm Taylor Long Properties in Glen Allen as senior vice president. With over 33 years of commercial real estate experience, Glass is involved in the leasing of retail space, both as tenant and landlord representative. His in-depth experience from the retailer’s perspective is beneficial in working with retailers, shopping center owners and developers.


Hourigan, a construction and development firm that operates throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and Richmond-based general contractor The Capstone Contracting Company have merged. The expanded company's combined resources will provide enhanced capacity and capabilities in tenant improvements and small commercial projects across many market segments, according to company officials. The merger also will expand Hourigan’s offerings in the areas of multi-family and retail environments. Capstone Contracting President David Auman will assume the role of executive vice president at Hourigan for the company’s Special Projects Group, which focuses on scaled construction projects and services across its Hampton Roads, Central Virginia and Western Virginia markets.


HCA Capital Division recently named Jake O’Shea the division chief medical officer, effective June 1. Prior to his new role, O’Shea served as the CMO of both Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals. He is the former chief medical information officer of HCA’s Capital Division, where he oversaw all medical informatics activities and helped integrate information technology strategy with clinical applications. In his new role, O’Shea will help lead the clinical quality agenda, drive physician engagement strategies, and focus on execution of improved physician alignment efforts. O’Shea began his career as a medical informatics consultant and practicing emergency medicine physician in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, and is a former president of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians. He received his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, attended the University Of Virginia School of Medicine, and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is board certified in both emergency medicine and clinical informatics.


Goodstein Development Corp. recently sold The Links at Virginia Center (72 condominium units that are part of the 288-unit Links Condominium Community in Glen Allen) to Pura Vida Rising, LLC for $7.8 million, or $108,403 per unit. Located across from the Virginia Crossings Hotel and Golf Club, the property was 97 percent leased at the time of the sale. Calvin Griffith of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Capital Markets Group, along with Catharine Spangler and advisors Birck Turnbull and Reilly Marchant, completed the sale.


Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently reported the following real estate transactions in Henrico County: Raymond James & Associates Inc. – renewed its lease of 4,331 SF in Westerre I at 3951 Westerre Parkway; PPD Development, LP – renewed its lease of 4,221 SF in Vistas II at 5516 Falmouth Street; Tee Care 4 U Academy LLC – leased 4,200 SF in Newbridge Square Shopping Center at 6007-6027 Nine Mile Road; Robinson Consulting Group – leased 4,183 SF in Westerre II at 3957 Westerre Parkway; Cimtec Automation, LLC – leased 3,000 SF in Shrader Commons at 7818 Shrader Road; Wright Constable Skeen – leased 2,742 SF in West Shore III at 301 Concourse Boulevard; and Vehicle Acceptance Corp. – leased 2,179 SF in Westerre II at 3957 Westerre Parkway.
