Two HCA Virginia hospitals have been recognized for excellence in nursing as part of HCA Healthcare’s 2018 Unit of Distinction Awards, an annual program that recognizes and rewards exemplary nursing units at HCA Healthcare facilities. Parham Doctors’ Hospital was named a winner for the intensive care unit and medical surgical services; the orthopedic unit, received honorable mention. Retreat Doctors’ Hospital was named a winner for emergency services and medical surgical services. The “Unit of Distinction” designation is achieved through measurable, exemplary performance in the strategic areas of advocacy and leadership, consistency in nursing practice and operations, and leveraging scale to drive performance.
