Tuckahoe Pines Retirement Community, a new resort-style, all-inclusive independent living community, will celebrate its groundbreaking May 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Timber Room at Wegmans, 12200 Wegmans Boulevard. Designed exclusively for adults 55 and over, the community offers the comforts and conveniences of modern living without the hassle of upkeep. There will be a short program followed by lunch. Capital Area Partnership Uplifting People, known as CAPUP, recently received a $3,000 grant from the charitable arm of Dominion Energy. Funds will support the purchase of food supplies for CAPUP’s food bank, which distributes about 10,000 bags of food each year to individuals and families throughout the greater Richmond region. Funds also will support another CAPUP initiative called Project Discovery, a program designed to help teens stay in school and graduate. As part of its ongoing commitment to communities, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation awarded more than $1.6 million in Critical Community Needs grants this year to help feed, shelter and care for people in need. Two employees of Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End, located at 2400 Gaskins Road, received awards at the annual Commonwealth Senior Living Winter Conference. Executive Director Reuben Canty earned the Evolution Award, and Sales and Marketing Director Daphne Marshall earned the Rising Star Award.
