Draper Aden Associates, an engineering, surveying and environmental services firm in Henrico, recently announced new senior associates and associates based in the firm’s Richmond office:

  • Timothy Cretney is a senior associate. Cretney is the firm’s chief financial officer who joined DAA in April 2016 and has more than 10 years of experience in financial and operational leadership. He is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Brockport.
  • Brad Fitzwater is an associate and a staff geologist in the Environmental Division.
  • Nick Hassler is an associate and a project manager in the Geotechnical and Construction Division.
  • John Hassler is an associate and a network administrator.
  • Joseph Lighthiser, E.I.T., is an associate and a design manager for the Underground Transmission and Distribution Division.
  • Nicholas Hinebaugh, P.E., is an associate and a staff engineer in the Site Development and Infrastructure Division.

  • Graham Stoneburner has been promoted to vice president. Stoneburner joined the firm in March 2015 as a member of Industrial Brokerage Services and focuses on landlord and tenant representation in Richmond.
  • Amy J. Broderick has been promoted to vice president. Broderick came to Thalhimer’s Richmond office in early 2015 with over 10 years of experience in real estate, representing multi-family and mixed-use developers in Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Delaware.

  • Alex T. Wotring has been promoted to vice president. Wotring joined Thalhimer’s Richmond office in October 2015 specializing in both tenant and landlord representation. One of his principal areas of focus and expertise is retail tenant site selection across Virginia for strategic site development.
  • Jessica Johnson, CCIM has been promoted to vice president. Johnson joined Thalhimer’s Roanoke office in 2015 and has over twelve years of experience in the real estate industry specializing in both tenant and landlord representation within the retail sector.
  • Elliott Fayssoux has been promoted to vice president. Fayssoux joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Greenville, S.C. office in November 2012, specializing in industrial sales and leasing. He has knowledge in big box industrial space where he has serviced institutional clients and equity firms.
  • Will McGoogan has been promoted to vice president. McGoogan specializes in site selection, lease negotiation, and the acquisition and disposition of retail properties. He joined the firm in 2013.

  • Alicia Brown has been promoted to first vice president. Brown joined Thalhimer’s Richmond office in 2011 in the Retail Services Group, specializing in Tenant and Landlord representation.
  • Kacie Jackson, SIOR has been promoted to first vice president. Kacie specializes in industrial sales and leasing in Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Greenville, S.C. office. She joined the firm in 2013.
  • Wick Smith has been promoted to senior associate. Smith joined Thalhimer’s Virginia Beach office in July 2015 specializing in retail sales and retail landlord representation.
  • Laura Harmon has been promoted to senior associate. Laura joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Greenville, S.C. office in March 2015. Laura specializes in office sales and leasing in the Upstate South Carolina area with knowledge of commercial property sales, leasing, and management to better serve her clients.

Glen Allen-based HHHunt Homes recently launched a new smart home initiative called SimpliFi, a comprehensive smart home package that includes the newest technologies to help home buyers save time and energy as well as create a safer and more secure environment. SimpliFi includes whole-house WiFi, a programmable Honeywell thermostat, Lutron Caséta programmable lighting, a Ring video doorbell, a Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt on the front door and Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service through the Echo Dot.


Barber & Associates, a commercial real estate appraisal firm based in West Broad Village, recently hired Chris Carmody as a commercial appraiser. He is a certified general appraiser licensed in Virginia. The company offers appraisals of office buildings, industrial properties, retail/shopping centers, multi-family properties, hotels, planned unit developments, undeveloped land, subdivision acquisition and development, and timberland. The company soon will start a commercial real estate news platform.

KidMed recently announced the promotions of Julia Stark and Sarah Barr to lead nurse practitioners. Stark began with KidMed as a nurse practitioner in 2017 and holds degrees from Eastern Mennonite University and University of Virginia. Barr began with KidMed as a nurse practitioner in 2017 and holds degrees from the College of William and Mary and Vanderbilt University. Stark and Barr will be responsible for provider education and training for KidMed.


Richmond Raceway and Sunoco have partnered to continue the evolution of the track’s growing eSports platform. Sunoco, the official fuel of NASCAR since 2004 and the exclusive fuel provider for all three national racing series in the sport, will be the naming rights sponsor for the entire Richmond Raceway eSports program including competing in the eNASCAR Peak Antifreeze iRacing Series (NPAiS) as well as hosting over 20 eSports race competitions on Xbox One and Playstation 4 this year. The program’s official name is Richmond Raceway eSports Fueled by Sunoco. As the presenting sponsor for Richmond Raceway eSports, Sunoco will have naming rights associated with all Richmond Raceway eSports activations and entitlement sponsorship of individual competitions that Richmond hosts. Over the past year, Richmond has grown its eSports presence through competing in the NAPiS, season-long fan competition on the NASCAR Heat series by 704Games, and introduction of the Richmond Raceway Simulator for outbound events. Richmond is the only track participating in these eSports platforms.


Frank Gilliam

Graphic Design USA magazine named Henrico resident Frank Gilliam, a principal and creative director at the integrated marketing firm Elevation in Richmond, one of its “People to Watch” among 36 top creative professionals in its February issue. Publisher Gordon Kaye noted that this year’s People to Watch “often take big risks to achieve their business or career goals” and “are bold in their design solutions… They are deliberate and mindful about using the power of design for good as they see it.” Gilliam founded the firm with Aaron Dotson in 2001 and together over the years they have created award-winning work for Duke’s Mayonnaise, Virginia529, Virginia Credit Union and Virginia Green.


Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently reported the following lease transactions: Victorious Christian Living Center – renewed its lease of 5,500 SF at 5186 Nine Mile Road; Lombard Equipment, Inc. – leased 3,000 SF at 2102 N. Hamilton Street; SunTrust Bank – renewed its lease of 2,500 SF in Staples Mill Shopping Center at 4026 Glenside Drive; and Pop Up Suites – leased 1,600 SF in The Promenade Shops at 11629 W. Broad Street.


6724 Patterson Avenue, LLC recently purchased a 4,750-square-foot office building at 6724 Patterson Avenue from Filer & Associates for $700,000 as an investment. Amy J. Broderick and Gregg W. Beck of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer handled the sale negotiations on behalf of the seller, and Bruce Bigger, also with Thalhimer, represented the purchaser in the transaction.
