Pet foods and accessories retailer Pet Valu collected pet food and supplies for local homeless animals as part of its annual “Thanks for Giving” collection drive this November, raising a total of $477,568 in donations – three times the amount that the campaign raised last year. As a result of the month-long campaign, Pet Valu’s popular $5 Feed-a-Pet for a week promotion raised $344,608 in donations alone helping to feed 68,921 pets. Pet Valu also accepted pet product and food supplies in-store amounting to $132,960 in donations. Each Pet Valu store partnered with a local shelter or rescue to be the recipient of their collection, so all customer contributions stayed in their respective communities and directly supported local homeless animals.
