Nelsen Funeral Home is offering families the opportunity to exchange their old, torn or soiled American flags for a new 3-foot by 5-foot flag. Bernie Henderson, president of Nelsen and Woody Funeral Homes, says the two Nelsen Funeral Home locations in the Richmond area – 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. and 412 S. Washington Hwy. – are offering the flag exchange as a free service to the community. The retired flags will be delivered to the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond, which will dispose of them in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.
