To mark the changing of the name of Cadence at the Glen to Verena at the Glen, the independent living rental retirement community in Glen Allen is hosting an open-to-the-public celebration Nov. 16. The Showcase of Homes will feature cuisine from the culinary team, refreshments and live jazz, along with tours of the community. The public will also have the opportunity to meet residents and staff. Verena at the Glen is owned by an affiliate of Chicago-based Green Courte Partners, LLC. With the name change to Verena (Latin for true) the community is bringing an updated wellness philosophy, along with enhanced dining, fitness programs, services and activities. Charles E. McCabe, CEO of Henrico-based The Income Tax School, Inc., recently announced the release of his new book titled Guide to Start and Grow Your Successful Tax Business. The 289-page book covers topics such as learning tax preparation, establishing a tax office, marketing and pricing, recruiting and training employees, dealing with the IRS and more. HCA Virginia Hospitals have been recognized in the fall 2017 Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from medical errors, infections and other harms. New Hospital Safety Scores, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S. health care system, recently were announced by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. Henrico Doctors’, Johnston-Willis, John Randolph Medical Center, Parham Doctors’ and Spotsylvania Regional all received an “A” ranking, and were among 832 hospitals in the country to earn this honor for their commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the country. Developed under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data from more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently announced that Allison L. Vincent has joined the Commercial Property Services team as an assistant portfolio manager. With more than 14 years’ experience in the administrative and management field, she previously worked for Metro Tech, a national commercial HVAC company located in Chicago, as a client relationship manager.
