Breeze Airways is restoring service from Richmond International Airport to Jacksonville, Florida in May, but – contrary to an earlier announcement Dec. 7 – is not planning to begin nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham.

Service to Jacksonville from Richmond will be offered Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday beginning May 18.

Breeze currently serves eight destinations from Richmond, including Charleston, South Carolina; Hartford, Connecticut; Las Vegas, Nevada; New Orleans, Louisiana; Phoenix, Arizona; Provo-Salt Lake City, Utah; San Francisco, California; and Tampa, Florida. It previously flew to Jacksonville, too.

"The route from Richmond to Raleigh-Durham was announced in error," Breeze spokesperson Ryne Williams said Wednesday. An earlier statement from the company had announced that service from RIC to Raleigh-Durham would begin Feb. 17 and run Fridays and Mondays. It quoted RIC President and CEO Perry J. Miller and Breeze President Tom Doxey expressing excitement about the addition, as well.

“Breeze always looks for underserved routes where we can add nonstop flights, low fares and our brand of Seriously Nice service,” said Doxey.

Flights are now on sale at www.flybreeze.com and via the Breeze app.
