U.S. Congressman Dave Brat spent the month of August visiting with constituents in all 10 counties in the Seventh District, which includes western Henrico. Brat attended 73 meetings or events with constituents, according to a spokesman. Congress takes a month-long break in August.

“August gave me time to connect and speak in-depth with the constituents of the Seventh District about the issues that matter most to them, like health care, immigration, government spending and the economy,” Brat said. “We talked a lot about the passage of historic tax reform and the ways it is impacting our economic climate right here in Virginia as well as how it is boosting family budgets.”

Brat also completed "mobile office hours" in each district, meeting with each of the constituents who had signed up to meet with him and visiting with several hundred constituents in total.

“These public appearances are invaluable to me as a representative,” Brat said. “I get to listen to the concerns of real people living in my district, and take those concerns with me as I return to Washington.”

Brat is locked in a competitive race with Democrat Abigail Spanberger for the seat, which he first won in 2014 and to which he was re-elected in 2016.
