'Books are Boo-tiful' virtual drive collects books for preschoolers

Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond, a regional school readiness collaborative, is coordinating a virtual book drive with the help of numerous community partners. The drive, "Books are Boo-tiful," will take place online through Oct. 31 to bring books to families with preschool children who are experiencing hardship in the face of the pandemic.
The public is asked to make a donation of any amount at http://smartbeginningsrva.org/books/ and treat kids to a great book, offering comfort to parents and children as well as an alternative to buying Halloween candy.
Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond works in partnership with the Children’s Museum of Richmond, Reach Out and Read, the Robins Foundation and VPM. Books will be distributed in the City of Richmond, Chesterfield County and Henrico County. The partners have bulk purchase power, so donations can be maximized to buy as many books as possible.
