Bon Secours has acquired Tuckahoe Orthopaedics, one of the oldest private orthopedic practices in Central Virginia area. The companies made the announcement Tuesday; terms of the deal were not announced. Tuckahoe Orthopaedics will operate as part of Bon Secours Medical Group.

Tuckahoe Orthopaedics has operated for more than 40 years, providing specialization in pediatric orthopedics, foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, joint replacement, spine, arthroscopy and sports medicine. The practice has been affiliated with Bon Secours for many years, with its physicians performing surgeries and maintaining office space in Richmond area Bon Secours hospitals.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Tuckahoe Orthopaedics to Bon Secours Medical Group and to our compassionate ministry,” said Faraaz Yousuf, market president of Bon Secours Richmond. “Tuckahoe Orthopaedics has provided quality care for thousands of patients in the area over their many years, and we look forward to extending the many benefits that a community health system can offer not only their patients, but their staff as well.”

Tuckahoe Orthopaedics patients will have greater access to a network of health care providers and services, according to Bon Secours officials, including MRI, primary care, orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, home health and outpatient rehabilitation, along with the latest technology for spine and joint procedures.

“We are excited to join Bon Secours Medical Group where we will continue providing the highest quality orthopedic care to our patients, as we have for more than 40 years,” said Jed Vanichkachorn, president of Tuckahoe Orthopaedics. “Being part of the enhanced care network of Bon Secours provides enhanced access to many new resources and increased efficiencies for our patients. We are looking forward to this next chapter.”

As part of the acquisition, Tuckahoe Orthopaedics’ existing practice locations will not change.
