Henrico County reported 58 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day moving average declined to 71 daily cases, reflecting similar levels from November.

Despite there being no new hospitalizations related to the virus, there were 14 more virus-related deaths reported, according to VDH data. Many of these deaths may have occurred weeks ago, as the VDH is just processing many death certificates related to the post-holiday surge. A total of 58 new deaths in the county related to the virus have been reported since Saturday, increasing the county's total during the pandemic to 417.

Of those deaths, 224 occurred among people 80 or older, while another 96 occurred among people in their 70s. A total of 10 Henricoans younger than 50 have died from the virus, according to the VDH.

Henrico County continues to report lower positivity rates among its testing encounters. The average positivity rate among both PCR tests and rapid antigen tests fell to 7.5 percent, according to the VDH.

In the county, 66,787 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered, with almost 20,000 Henricoans having been fully vaccinated, according to VDH data.
