Autism Society of Central Virginia raises nearly $180k during 5k, family fun day event

Despite soggy weather, more than 1,000 people participated in the Autism Society of Central Virginia's 5K & Family Fun Day event May 18 at Crump Park in Glen Allen, helping to raise nearly $180,000 that the organization will use to expand its programs and services.
The event included two sensory zones and a kids' zone and featured a 5k race as well.
Ninety teams of friends, families and colleagues raised more than $100,000 for the organization through their networks. The top overall team fundraiser was Team bELIeve, which raised nearly $16,500.
