Fifty nonprofit organizations and community-based groups in Atlantic Union Bank's service area will have the opportunity to receive a $4,000 grant to support paid summer internship programs in 2025. The initiative, announced by Atlantic Union Bank, aims to provide crucial professional development opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

Through the Future Community Impact Makers grant program, the bank will award a total of $200,000, reflecting an increase of 20 grants from the previous year.

"For students seeking to develop core skills and begin building their professional network, summer internships provide invaluable experience," said Nathalia Artus, head of Community Impact at Atlantic Union Bank.

The $4,000 grant primarily focuses on paying interns, with $3,600 allocated for wages. The remaining $400 covers associate management and recruitment costs ($150) and direct professional development expenses like conference attendance or association memberships ($250). In addition, organizations will receive professional development and internship best practice resources.

To be eligible, organizations must be located within Atlantic Union Bank's service area and commit to hosting an eight-week, direct-permanent hire, paid internship program for undergraduate or graduate students. The grant recipients will have full discretion on the intern’s job description and hiring decision, while the bank will provide resources and guidance throughout the process.

Grant applications are open until 11:59 p.m. Jan. 31, with awards announced by Feb. 17. Nonprofits, government entities, community foundations, and other community-based organizations can find more information and apply at AUBCares.com.
