Atlantic Union Bank has announced the collection of 6,774 pounds of non-perishable food items in its largest-ever company-wide food drive. The initiative, conducted in partnership with Feed More and local food pantries, aims to combat hunger in communities throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland.
The bank's commitment to hunger relief also will extend beyond the holiday season; during the next three years, Atlantic Union Bank has pledged 250 volunteer hours annually and a total of $250,000 to support Feed More's mission.
“Year-round, millions of Americans are affected by food insecurity and aren’t sure where their next meal will come from," said Nathalia Artus, head of Community Impact at Atlantic Union Bank. “Hopefully, the food we’ve collected will give families in need some relief and make this holiday season more enjoyable.”
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2023 Food Security of U.S. Households report highlighted the severity of food insecurity, with approximately 18 million Americans, representing 14% of all U.S. households, experiencing uncertainty about meeting their food needs.
