The Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship tournament has returned for the second consecutive year to the Henrico Sports and Events Center, with the defending A-10 champion Richmond Spiders the favorite to repeat last year's title performance.

The tournament began March 5, with 12th-seeded George Washington University winning a lopsided 65-44 game with 13th-seeded Loyola University of Chicago. No. 11 seed VCU was scheduled to face No. 14 seed LaSalle at 5 p.m.

With a win Wednesday, VCU would face No. 6 Dayton on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. A win in that game and the Rams would challenge No. 3 seed Davidson Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Richmond, the No. 1 seed for the second straight year under A-10 Coach of the Year Aaron Roussell, will play its first game on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. against the winner of Thursday's game between No. 8 seed Fordham and No. 9 seed Duquesne.

With a win Friday, the Spiders would face either No. 4 seed St. Joe's, No. 5 seed Rhode Island or GW on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The championship game is set for Sunday, March 9 at 4 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
