The Art of Housing, an event featuring local artwork to support families facing homelessness, will be held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts April 18 to benefit Henrico-based Housing Families First. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The silent auction is one of the main fundraising events for Housing Families First, providing funds for the organization's programs, according to Beth Vann-Turnbull, HFF’s executive director.

“What makes this event so special is the participation from local artists and the opportunity it gives an attendee to find a piece of art that speaks to them and in return helps support families in our region facing homelessness," she said.

Mickael Broth (also known as The Night Owl) and Elizabeth Dolan Wright, founder of The Common Wealth Public Art Fund, have curated the pieces of art from 16 artists that will be up for auction.

"Home and art go hand in hand," said Broth. "Having art hanging on the walls shows a sense of trust in your situation and faith that you're rooted. I'm stoked to be a part of The Art of Housing event and to help, the best way I can."

Tickets for the Art of Housing event are available online.
