Sports Backers has added a new category to this year’s Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar Athlete Awards program – the Williams Mullen Community Impact Award.
The goal of the award is to recognize a Richmond-region high school- based sports team for improving the community through volunteerism, fundraising, or other altruistic activities.
The winning team will receive a $2,500 award and will be recognized on stage at the 28th Annual Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar- Athlete Awards Dinner June 3. The winning team will be encouraged to reinvest all or a portion of the cash award, which will be made on the winners’ behalf to the school, to further the team's impact on the community.
Nominations may come from team members, coaches, school administrators, parents, stakeholders, or any individuals who’d like to recognize members of their school community. Nominations may be submitted at http://sportsbackers.org/program/scholar-athlete-awards-program/williams-mullen-community-impact-award/. The application deadline is May 15.
