Applicants sought for Henrico Schools’ Gifted Education Advisory Council

Henrico County Public Schools officials are seeking applicants to serve on the school division’s Gifted Education Advisory Council. The group meets five times a year and advises the school division about the educational needs of all gifted students in the division. The committee studies gifted education needs and policy, and works with the superintendent’s office to make improvements. It provides an annual report to the School Board and promotes good relationships among the School Board, schools, families and the community.

Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on April 30 and can be mailed, emailed or submitted in person.

The council is seeking applicants for terms varying from one to three years.

Openings for a three-year (2019-22) term include:

• One parent/guardian representative from the Brookland District.
• One parent/guardian representative from the Fairfield District.
• One parent/guardian representative from the Three Chopt District.
• One parent/guardian representative from the Tuckahoe District.

Openings for a two-year (2019-21) term include:

• Two parent/guardian representatives from the Tuckahoe District.
• One school principal.

There is one opening for a one-year term:

• One rising seventh- or eighth-grade middle school student representative.
