The 15th Annual Pass the Hat Baseball Game between Benedictine College Preparatory and St. Christopher's School will take place Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at RF&P Park’s Glen Allen Stadium, to benefit Jacob's Chance.

The longstanding tradition brings together the two rivals to raise funds and awareness for Jacob's Chance, a Richmond-based nonprofit that offers inclusive and accessible programs for people ages 5 to 40 with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.

“Pass the Hat is a powerful reminder of what can happen when competition and community come together for a greater purpose,” said Kate Mardigian, executive director of Jacob’s Chance. “For 15 years, this game has helped ensure that every athlete, regardless of ability, has a place on the field. We are so grateful to celebrate 15 years of tradition with Benedictine, St. Christopher’s, and the entire community.”

Since its inception, Pass the Hat has raised more than $65,000 to support River City Buddy Ball, Jacob’s Chance’s inclusive sports program that provides youth and young adults with disabilities access to athletics.

The highlight of the night will be when Jacob’s Chance members “pass the hat” through the crowd, collecting donations to help keep sports accessible for every athlete, regardless of financial circumstances.

Earlier in the day, players from Benedictine and St. Christopher’s will volunteer with Jacob’s Chance at St. Christopher’s School, joining the River City Buddy Ball team for an inclusive game. The opportunity gives the teams a chance to engage directly with Jacob’s Chance athletes, reinforcing the importance of inclusive sports before taking the field that evening.

Tickets are available now for $5 in advance at JacobsChance.org/Fundraising and $7 at the gates.
