Amtrak and the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority have made some recent improvements to the Staples Mill Amtrak Station that are designed to improve passenger flow and amenities.

VPRA added a new location for passengers using ride-sharing services like Lyft and Uber, who now will be directed to the designated bus loop area on the north side of the station. New LED lights also have been installed throughout the station, building exterior, and the train platform to improve safety.

“As the busiest Amtrak station in the southeast, effectively moving traffic inside and outside the station is important to the customer experience,” said DJ Stadtler, Executive Director of the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority. “These improvements will make service at Staples Mill more convenient and efficient and improve the overall experience for all travelers.”

The snack shop inside the station also received a facelift – the last piece of an interior refresh process that began last year.
