63-year-old struck and killed in Short Pump parking lot

The crash was reported at about 4:49 p.m. in the 11400 block of West Broad Street. Heesen was seriously injured when she was found and was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries the following day.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, who has not been identified, apparently hit Heesen in a parking lot while attempting to turn left toward the shopping center's exit, according to a police investigation. The driver remained on scene and has cooperated with authorities but will face charges, according to police, who said speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
