Six new Virginia State Troopers will be assigned to Henrico County, following their graduation from the VSP’s 134th Basic Session Aug. 6.

Those troopers are:
• Hector R. Estevez De La Rosa, a native of Clifton, New Jersey;
• Carter Lance Goodbar, a native of Lexington;
• Jonathan Porter Mills, a native of FarmVille;
• Robert Dillon Moran, a native of Staunton;
• Maximilian Kolbe Radel, a native of Spotyslvania;
• Austyn Anthony Weaver, a native of Huntington Beach, California.

In total, the 134th Session will include 40 troopers, each of whom has received more than 1,300 hours of classroom and field instruction in more than 100 different subjects, including de-escalation techniques, strategies to assist people in mental health crisis, ethics and leadership, fair and impartial policing, constitutional law, emergency medical trauma care, and public and community relations.

The members of the session began their 27 weeks of academic, physical and practical training at the VSP Training Academy in Chesterfield County Jan. 28.

The new troopers will report to their individual duty assignments during the week of Aug. 16. For their final phase of training, each trooper will spend an additional six weeks paired up with a Field Training Officer learning his or her new patrol area.
