Five Henrico County officials have been appointed to the National Association of Counties, a national grassroots organization of more than 3,000 counties across the United States.

The county officials who will serve are:

• Board of Supervisors Chairman and Varina District Supervisor Tyrone Nelson – Transportation Steering Committee;

• Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman and Brookland District Supervisor Dan Schmitt – Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee;

• Deputy County Manager for Community Operations Steve Yob – Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee;

• Deputy County Manager for Administration W. Brandon Hinton – Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee;

• Deputy County Manager for Community Affairs Monica Smith-Callahan – Health Steering Committee.

The steering committees are responsible for making recommendations to the organization on legislative policies and goals and meet several times annually.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin also appointed Yob to a four-year term on the State Water Control Board, which oversees water quality regulations and programs. Yob's term began on July 1 and ends on June 30, 2028.
