4 Henrico polling places may change locations for Nov. 3 election

Table of Contents

Four Henrico polling places may change locations, temporarily, for the Nov. 3 election.

The county’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider an emergency resolution to change the locations – each currently within a senior living community – to nearby Henrico public schools, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The precincts are:

• Oakview (located at Chestnut Grove Assisted Living Facility in the Fairfield District) – proposed to switch to Brookland Middle School;

• Stratford Hall (located at ManorCare Stratford Hall in the Fairfield District) – proposed to switch to Moody Middle School;

• Cedarfield (located at The Hermitage at Cedarfield in the Three Chopt District) – proposed to switch to Pocahontas Middle School;

• Laburnum (located at Mountain of Blessing Christian Center) – proposed to switch to Montrose Elementary School.

If approved, the county’s registrar’s office would contact all registered voters in the four precincts by mail twice to let them know about the changes, and the county also would publicize the changes on its website and its social media accounts, according to a board paper. In addition, signs would be posted at the affected precincts to alert voters to the changes.

It would be the second time this year those four precincts have moved temporarily; each also moved for the June 23 primary elections, as a result of the pandemic.

The county also switched a fifth precinct – the Canterbury precinct (at the Westminster Canterbury House) to Belmont Recreation Center, but that location is not part of the changes proposed for next month’s election.
