A 32-year-old Sandston woman faces one count of felony animal cruelty in connection with the discovery in August of a badly injured dog found in a dumpster in Sandston.

Henrico Police announced the charge against Shaymeshia L. Washington, who was served with it Sept. 29 following an investigation into the Aug. 21 incident involving a Boston Terrier in the 1900 block of Betner Court. The dog was alive when found but in poor health and had to be euthanized at an emergency veterinary clinic shortly thereafter.

Washington is being held at the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office without bond.
