A violent Fourth of July weekend in Henrico County left three people – including two teens – dead and two other people injured, following three separate shootings.

The first shooting happened Saturday evening at The Shops at White Oak Village just before 5:30 p.m. and resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl. Henrico Police did not identify her because of her age, but family members confirmed that she was Jamirah Washington.

A male victim is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, who have not released information about the circumstances leading to the shooting. Police are asking that anyone who was in the shopping center at about the time of the shooting or leading up to it contact Detective Ensor at (804) 501-5794 or Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or  http://www.p3tips.com. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.

The second shooting took place Sunday morning in the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue near the Central Gardens community in Eastern Henrico. When police arrived, they found one man – 27-year-old Steven Milton Whisnant, III, of Chesterfield – dead and another critically injured. The latter was taken to the hospital, and there’s been no word on his condition.

Police do not have any information about the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting and are asking anyone who may have details to contact Detective Rosser or Detective Henry at (804) 501-5000 or Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers.

The third shooting happened Sunday just before midnight in the 300 block of Elba Street near Engleside Drive, just across the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike from Richmond Raceway. Nineteen-year-old Marquan Demont Lane of Henrico died at a hospital as the result of injuries suffered in the shooting. There were no other injuries reported in connection with the shooting.

Anyone with details about that shooting should contact Detective Seay at (804) 501-7323 or Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers.
