3 Henrico schools to participate in 'Read to Them' program

Three Henrico County public schools will participate in a statewide reading program, thanks in part to funding provided by the Virginia Bankers Association and member banks.
Holladay Elementary School (sponsored by Chesapeake Bank), Maybeury Elementary School (Chesapeake Bank) and Lakeside Elementary School (First Community Bank) all are participating in the Read to Them program, a nonprofit effort designed to promote family literacy. Read to Them programs have reached more than 2 million families in more than 3,000 schools in all 50 states. There are 20 counties and cities being sponsored across Virginia.
The Virginia Bankers Association formed the VBA Education Foundation in 2007 with funding from the majority of VBA member banks for the Walter Ayers Fund for Financial Education. Its mission is to improve personal financial literacy and economic education in all public and private schools in the commonwealth.
