Table of Contents

Three Henrico communities are among the 15 safest in Virginia when it comes to severe weather, according to insurance producer Home Insurance.

The company compiled its list of the 20 safest communities from severe weather statewide, based upon a combination of factors, including the frequency of floods, wind, lightning and hail.

The company ranked Laurel, generally an area north of Lakeside (east of West Broad Street, north of Wistar and Hermitage roads, west of North Run and south of Hungary Road) as the ninth-safest spot in the state when it comes to avoiding severe weather. It ranked Lakeside 14th and East Highland Park (generally the area surrounding the Laburnum Avenue/Mechanicsville Turnpike intersection) 15th.

Glen Allen ranked 28th on the list.

The top spot in the state was Lowes Island in Loudoun County.
