Three Henrico companies have again made the Fortune 500 list, which ranks U.S. businesses based upon their annual revenue totals.
As usual, Henrico-based tobacco company Altria was the top local company on the list, which was released yesterday. Altria ranked No. 167, five spots lower than last year, with $19.76 billion in revenue. That represented nearly a 1-percent earnings increase, although the company’s profitability declined by 118 percent.
Henrico-based Markel insurance rose 106 spots to Non. 335, reporting $9.52 billion in revenue – a 39-percent jump from the previous year.
Genworth Financial, also based in Henrico, was No. 364 in the rankings, four spots lower than last year. It reported $8.68 billion in revenue, a 3-percent jump.
Henrico-based Brink’s made the Fortune 1000, ranking 669th.
