COVID

Henrico County Public Schools officials reported 27 cases of COVID-19 at 24 schools and school system facilities and departments during the first five days of February, according to school system data.

Two cases were reported at the ACE Center at Hermitage High School (involving people last in the building Jan. 21 and Jan. 26, respectively); two at Godwin High School (involving people last at that school Jan. 28 and Feb. 2); and two at Wilder Middle School (involving people last there Jan. 21 and Jan. 22).

The system reported 74 total cases involving schools and school facilities in January and overall since Aug. 12 now has confirmed 238 cases within 70 schools, school facilities or departments during that time.

Only three schools – Jackson Davis Elementary, Sandston Elementary and Pocahontas Middle – have yet to report a confirmed case of the virus since that date. Mehfoud Elementary and Hungary Creek Middle each reported their first cases in late January, while Tucker High reported its first case Feb. 4.

Hermitage High and the ACE Center at Hermitage have combined to report 12 total confirmed cases since mid-August, the most of any school (though the two buildings are considered separate for listing purposes even though they are adjoining).

Freeman High has reported 10 cases, Deep Run High eight and Johnson Elementary seven.
