The Glen Allen Ruritan Club will host the 25th annual Glen Allen Day Saturday, Oct. 9 at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park, with the theme “25 Years of Bringing Glen Allen Together.”

The Glen Allen Ruritans work with Henrico Recreation and Parks to organize the event, which is one of the largest festivals in the county.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with the GA5K, in support of Glen Allen High School. At 9:30 a.m., a parade along Mountain Road (beginning at John Cussons Drive) will flow into the park. Then from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., festivities will take place in the park, with approximately 125 vendors and several food stands.

Throughout the day, families can enjoy bands and entertainment on the stage and a large children’s area that will include activities such as a hay maze, pumpkin decorating, inflatables, a large “sandbox” of corn, and a petting zoo, among others.

To run or walk in the GA5K, visit http://runsignup.com and click on the “Find a Race” tab, then type in GA5K. The first 200 to register will receive free t-shirts.

Proceeds raised by the Glen Allen Ruritans through the event go to support the group’s community service projects throughout the year.
