There were 24 new cases of COVID-19 reported among people at Henrico public schools Wednesday, prompting 77 people to enter quarantine, according to the school system, which also reported two new outbreaks between students and staff members (one at Skipwith Elementary School, the other at Tuckahoe Middle School).

In total, there have now been 112 cases of COVID-19 confirmed among people in 49 schools and one administrative office location since buildings began welcoming students back on a staggered basis Feb. 22. Those cases have caused 836 people to enter quarantine, though many of them have since returned to the buildings.

The new cases included three among people involved with extracurricular or sports activities at Glen Allen High School that led to 50 people quarantining and a case at Baker Elementary School in Varina that led to 23 people quarantining.

Davis, Johnson and Shady Grove elementaries each reported two new cases, as did Holman and Tuckahoe middles, all involving in-school cases (as opposed to extracurricular or sports-related cases).

Shady Grove Elementary has reported eight cases since reopening, Glen Allen High seven cases, Tucker High six and Harvie Elementary five.
