20-year-old suspect arrested, charged with two Varina robberies

A 20-year-old man faces two robbery charges and two charges of using a firearm during the commission of a felony, in connection with two robberies that occurred in Varina Feb. 28.

Police took Jaquan Rakim Roberts of Henrico into custody the same day, following the incidents along Darbytown Road at 12:45 p.m. and 1 p.m. that day.

In the first incident, a suspect entered a store wearing a black coat, pants, and white shoes while displaying a handgun and demanding cash from the clerk. The suspect fled on foot and later committed a second robbery, then running away again.

Police took Roberts into custody without incident during a traffic stop in the area. He is being held without bond at the Henrico County jail.
