The drivers of two trailers were injured during a crash early this morning on I-95 in Henrico.

At about 3:34 a.m., a 2008 Freightliner tractor with a car hauler traveling in the right lane on I-95 southbound near the Parham Road exit was having difficulty maintaining speed. A tractor hauling a Perdue trailer then struck the car hauler in the rear, according to Virginia State Police.

Emergency responders took the driver of the car hauler to the hospital for the treatment of minor to serious injuries. Responders had to extract the driver of the Perdue truck from the cab of the truck before transporting him to the hospital with serious injuries.

Cleanup was expected to take an extended period of time, police officials said. Traffic was being diverted to exit 84 during the clean-up process. Charges are pending, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
