Henrico Police detained two teens at Highland Springs High School Tuesday after finding them with guns in their possession.

Henrico County Public Schools officials conducted two independent investigations at the school involving the two students, in conjunction with Henrico Police school resource officers, and recovered guns from each student.

In the first incident, police are seeking five petitions against the teen for offenses that include possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm on school property, underage possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana on school property, as well as a charge related to the illegal manufacturing, importation, sale, possession, transfer or transportation of trigger activators.

The second teen could face three charges:

• possession of a firearm on school grounds;
• possession of a firearm by a minor;
• possession of a concealed weapon.

Both juveniles were detained and later served their petitions at the Henrico County Juvenile Detention Home, where they will remain in the custody of the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office.

There was no known threat to anyone at the school, according to police.
