Two people were able to escape a house fire in Henrico County with minor injuries early Thursday morning.
Fire crews were called to the 7900 block of Tamarind Court, near Three Lakes Park, at about 1:30 a.m.

The incident occurred in 3600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike at about 8:30 p.m. Police arrived to find two men suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Forty-four year-old Darnell Lee Porter, of Henrico, has died from his injuries, while the second victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
