In the first incident, police said 25-year-old Keyshawn Diming of Cumberland, Virginia, was riding a motorcycle westbound on Broad Street near Willow Lawn at a high rate of speed when he lost control and died after trying to avoid other traffic. Police said speed and reckless driving are believed to have been factors in the crash and that they are still investigating the incident.

Several hours later, just after 5 p.m., police responded to a crash at the intersection of Libbie Avenue and Fitzhugh Avenue. When officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Mahir Hiteshkumar Desai of Henrico on the ground with critical injuries. Desai was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the sedan also had minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Police said Desai was driving northbound on Libbie Avenue when driver of the sedan tried to turn left from westbound Fitzhugh Avenue onto Libbie Avenue. Desai was unable to avoid hitting the driver's side of the sedan as it was entering the intersection. Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
