Two men were killed and a third injured during a fire Thursday morning at a residential construction site in Short Pump that involved scaffolding coming into contact with power lines.
The men were injured shortly after 8 a.m. by the fire near a residential structure in the 4500 block of Bacova Club Court.
Two – Juan Carlos Moreno-Romero, 34, and Oscar Rosales, 18 – were pronounced dead at the scene by first-responders, while the third was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
The incident knocked out power to more than 2,000 nearby customers, though it has since been restored, according to Dominion Virginia Power.
Henrico Police have closed Liesfeld Farms Drive between Mason Glen Drive and Charles Phillip Drive for several hours as they work with officials from Henrico Fire and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to determine the cause of the incident.
