20 Henrico County schools earn Virginia performance awards

Table of Contents

Twenty Henrico County schools have earned 2019 Virginia Index of Performance awards for advanced learning and achievement. Gov. Ralph Northam and the Virginia Board of Education announced that 270 schools statewide had earned the designation, along with nine school divisions.

Henrico County Public Schools’ 20-award total was tops in the Richmond area. Only the school divisions in Fairfax and Loudoun counties, districts with considerably more students, had more schools recognized in the state awards.

The awards are based on student achievement and other performance indicators during the 2017-18 school year. They fall into tiers based primarily on state and federal benchmarks and progress toward goals set by the governor and the Virginia Board of Education.
