Sixteen University of Richmond students will put their culinary skills to the test as they compete in a "Bake Off" in an attempt to launch new salad dressing products. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Richmond's Queally Center for Admissions.
The students, enrolled in the Robins School of Business's "Bench Top Innovations" marketing course, have spent the fall semester developing their salad dressing creations in UR's test kitchen. The course, taught in collaboration with UR’s Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship initiative, challenges students to take a product from concept to commercialization.
A panel of expert judges will choose the winning product. Tyler Betzhold, executive chef at the University of Richmond; Barry W. Enderwick, host of Sandwiches of History; Krista Greenberg, marketing strategy consultant and former senior director of consumer insights at Red Bull; and Jerry Hoak, chief creative officer at The Martin Agency, serve as judges.
The winning team will receive support from the entire class in the spring semester to launch and scale their business venture before graduation.
The event is open to the public and free to attend, but registration is required. To register, click here.
