15-year-old boy struck and killed attempting to cross Staples Mill Road

Henrico Police officials are investigating a crash that killed a 15-year-old boy who was attempting to cross a road Sunday night.

The crash was reported Sept. 8 at about 8:06 p.m. on Staples Mill Road near Hungary Spring Road. When police arrived, they found the teen with obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed that the teen likely was attempting to cross Staples Mill Road in the middle of the block when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver of the Nissan that struck him stopped, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
