12 Henrico students earn Virginia Credit Union scholarships

Virginia Credit Union has awarded $2,500 scholarships to 12 Henrico County students through its Virginia Credit Union Scholarship Program.

The students were selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, an essay, and work to help cover the cost of education.

The Henrico County winners are:

• Adegboye Adebayo of Glen Allen, a graduate of Glen Allen High School who is planning to attend Temple University;

• Jacey Brown of Henrico, a graduate of Henrico High School who is planning to attend Virginia State University;

• Lauren Elam of Henrico, a junior at James Madison University;

• Iyaana Johnson of Henrico, a senior at Howard University;

• Destiny Jones of Highland Springs, a graduate of Highland Springs High School who is planning to attend UNC-Chapel Hill;

• Aditya Kotha of Henrico, a graduate of J. R. Tucker High School who is planning to attend VCU;

• Carter Morris of Glen Allen, a graduate of Mills Godwin High School who is planning to attend the University of Virginia;

• Jessica Savage of Henrico, a graduate of J. R. Tucker High School who is planning to attend Virginia Tech;

• Colin Schmidt of Henrico, a graduate of J. R. Tucker High School who is planning to attend the University of South Carolina;

• Victoria Osenga of Glen Allen, a sophomore at the University of Richmond;

• Camryn Tinsley of Glen Allen, a senior at Christopher Newport University;

• Maxwell Kates-Tate of Henrico, a sophomore at Virginia Tech.

Overall, Virginia Credit Union awarded $75,000 in college scholarships to 30 student members through its program. Virginia Credit Union has awarded nearly $1.4 million in college scholarships to student members since 1991.
